In cases of a child's absence from school for unavoidable appointments - dentist, doctor etc., the school would appreciate prior notice either by letter or by telephone but where this is impossible an explanatory telephone call or note is required.
The school should be notified on the first day of a child's absence of the nature of the illness and the expected length of its duration. Notification can be made either by telephone or in writing. In the case of infectious illnesses the child's return to school must be accompanied by a letter of clearance from a doctor.
